Due to the current global situation we are all facing, here at the Nursery we've decided on a few changes that we hope will help us all to do our bit towards safeguarding the vulnerable, follow newly-brought-in protocols, as well as to ensure a healthy and productive year for all.

As you know, this little Nursery is our livelihood, and your patronage means everything to us. We want to keep the Nursery open for as long as possible to continue to provide you with healthy plants for your veg patch and garden, as well as keep our community safe and thriving in the light of potentially long-lasting impacts on the global economy.

With many folks being forced to stay at home, we understand that many of you will now be thinking about ways you can make your immediate environment more healthy, more enjoyable and more productive, and that you are probably thinking about your garden in a new light as a result. If we have to stay at home for who-knows-how-long, might as well make it a joyful and useful time to tackle projects that have been on the back-burner, right?

So, in light of all this, the following changes are being implemented here at the Nursery:

Nursery Opening Changes & Event Updates

As of Friday 27th March we are officially CLOSED TO THE PUBLIC.

However, until we are told otherwise we will continue to offer our order & collect service - see note below. You may also contact us anytime (via text or Whatsapp message to the number 07545161843, FB messenger or email) and we'll do whatever we can to help you as long as it falls within current legislation relating to Covid-19.

We will also be stopping all groups for the foreseeable future :( and our Spring Festival and other events have been postponed for the time being.

Nursery Operating Changes

~ Plant Ordering/Collection Service: We are currently creating an availability list for all plants currently in stock (and those we are growing for sale this year) which has an ordering function for those who wish to order their plants, pay ahead, and collect at their convenience for the utmost minimal contact. Please click here for more information and to view the availability lists and ordering info.

UPDATE: We are experiencing a very high volume of orders at the moment and for that reason we are suspending new orders between the 13th and 20th of April so we can catch up, get our webshop fully updated and, of course, pot on all our plant babies! Click here for more info.

Free Resources We Offer:

We have a couple of other resources here at the Nursery that you may find of value right now, including:

~ Pre-loved pots - we have stacks of used pots (either from our work in the nursery or that was brought in by friends last year) that we do not have the facilities to process nor the space to store! If you need some pots or seeding trays we are offering them up free of charge. Just let us know what you need in terms of size & quantity and we'll put together a selectionm for you as best we can. Donations welcomed :)

~ Recycling and Food Waste bags - we stock these in the nursery and of course they are a free resource from the council so if you need some please let us know (see contact info above) We reserve the right to limit these to 1 roll of each per person unless you can prove you are collecting on behalf of a neighbour or self-isolating friend.

General Nursery Changes

We are concerned about the current issues with food availability in the supermarkets (and for those who may not be able to get to one or order what they need online). We have had enough comments from friends and customers to suggest that many of you are too, and from folks starting to grow their own who have never done so before.

While we had intended to grow only a nominal amount of vegetable plant varieties for sale this year, we've now taken the liberty of increasing our range and have sown quite a number of varieties, some of which are available now or will be soon. These are listed in the order forms mentioned above.

We hope this will be of benefit to those who are now considering, or have already starting preparing to, grow their own veg this year. We are in the process of creating a Facebook group specifically for the purpose of sharing our availability lists with you, as well as to help local growers support each other by sharing their valuable knowledge and insights into our particular climate and its challenges with regards to growing food here. The group is now ready to join :)

And because we are aware of the number of talented growers we have in the area, we are considering starting up a facility whereby any growers with surplus can bring their goods here to sell. Obviously this will take a fair amount of consideration and planning but we are early in the growing season yet and feel confident we can set this up in time.

Hopefully order will be restored by then, but at this point in time, we just don't know what will happen this year. We'd rather have a plan, than not. Just in case. So if you, or someone you know, produces veg, eggs, and other suitable products please let us know if you would be interested in joining us for this endeavour.

Please do keep an eye on your inbox and your Facebook notifications, and again, please don't hesitate to get in touch if you need to. We are here for YOU and for the greater good of our community.

Please take all available precautions, look after yourself and your loved ones, and above all, take the time to count all your blessings.
